• Personalize your experience and app preferences
• Enforce Terms of Service and Community Guidelines
• Analyze trends, usage, and app performance
• Communicate with you regarding updates, features, or customer support

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

• Third-party services: We may share limited data with infrastructure providers (such as Cloudflare or Firebase) for hosting, media storage, and analytics.
• Legal obligations: We may disclose information if required by law or in good faith to protect the rights, property, or safety of Lurp, its users, or the public.
• No sale of data: We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

When you use Lurp via our website, we may use cookies and browser local storage to provide and improve our service:

• Strictly Necessary Storage: Essential for core functionality, such as keeping you logged in, maintaining session security, and remembering your theme settings. These cannot be disabled.
• Analytics & Advertising: We use Google Analytics and Google Ads to understand site traffic and measure conversion performance. These cookies and identifiers are only activated if you explicitly grant permission through our cookie banner.
• Managing Your Choices: You can change or withdraw your cookie consent at any time by clicking the "Cookies" link in our website footer, or by clearing your browser cookies.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to:

• Access and correction: View and update your profile information directly within the app.
• Data deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time via in-app settings or by contacting support.
• Data portability: Request a summary of your data in a portable format.
• Opt-out of tracking: Limit or opt out of optional analytics tracking (where technically feasible).

6. Account Deletion and Data Retention

We believe in full transparency and control over your personal data. When you initiate account deletion:

• 14-Day Grace Period: When you request account deletion in the app, your account enters a 14-day grace period. During this time, your profile is immediately hidden from public view, search results, and public sitemaps. If you change your mind, you can cancel the deletion request at any point during these 14 days simply by logging back into your account.
• Permanent Processing & Anonymization: If you do not log in within 14 days, permanent deletion is executed:
  • Personal Details & Media: Your email addresses (primary and secondary), profile pictures, name, bio, birth date, country, notification settings, and metadata are permanently purged from our active databases and media storage. Your username is replaced with an anonymous identifier.
  • Personal Thoughts (Thought Posts): Thought posts represent personal perspectives; they are marked as deleted, their content (titles, text) is wiped, and all attached media files are permanently removed from storage.
  • Polls & Interactive Content: Polls you created are preserved for community continuity, attributed to the anonymized user. Cast votes and post reactions are retained because they are inherently anonymous once detached from personal identity.
  • Comments: Comments without replies are permanently deleted. Comments that have replies are emptied of their content and marked as deleted to preserve the context and readability of existing discussions for others.
  • Activity & Connections: Social connections (follows), notifications, XP transaction history, and user statistics are permanently erased.
  • Abuse Prevention: If an account was banned for serious violations of our safety guidelines or legal terms, a one-way cryptographic hash of associated email addresses is maintained solely to prevent ban evasion and protect community safety.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, but no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. By using Lurp, you accept responsibility for safeguarding your login credentials and account access.

8. Children’s Privacy

Lurp is not intended for users under the age of 13 (or applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below this age.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be effective upon posting. Continued use of Lurp after updates constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
